I watched the highlights of the convention speeches on line and got analysis and reviews of the various speakers and subjects from MSNBC daytime political analysis shows and the occasional coverage on out local news shows.
My conclusion – the convention was about as useful and informative as the Republican convention, which is to say useless and nothing new to report.
The democratic convention had better speakers and I particularly like Mrs. Obama’s speech and Mayor Castro’s speech and Pres Clinton was, well he was Slick Willy at his best and he owned the room as he always does when he talks politics.
In the grand scheme of things the conventions will have little effect on the outcome of the election and were primarily a reward to and an appeal to the core of the parties for their support past and future.
The democratic and republican conventions are best summed up in the directions a police officer gives at a crime scene –“Move along nothing to see here!”
