President Obama is spending a lot of time in isolation with Democratic Party handlers and debate experts, reflecting on his performance in the first debate and preparing for the next debate.
Many viewers, supporters of the president and even the president himself admitted that he performed well below expectations in the first debate and that he must do better on Tuesday.
Will he do better?
I think so for a number of reasons – he really couldn’t do much worse, the town hall format is a good debate format for the president and he has worked hard between debates getting prepared.
The questions will be posed by a randomly selected (by Gallup poll professionals) group of 70 or so citizens from Nassau County and will be moderated by Candy Crowley who may or may not be asking follow up questions to those posed by the audience.
The challenge for Governor Romney and President Obama is to engage with the questioner in the room, while simultaneously talking to 50 million viewers and it will be important to not get overly engaged in one or one arguments where they appear to ignore the audience.
Governor Romney has spent a lot of time out campaigning between debates than the president and it will be interesting to see how the intensive or less intensive preparation affects the performance of each candidate.
If you were a member of the audience, what would your questions be for the Pres Obama and Gov Romney?
